DBYC Autumn Series Report

The 3rd and last race of the Autumn Series took place on Sunday in sunshine and a great Force 4-5 SSW breeze.

The course was set from the middle start mark with a beat to a mark just off the jetty at Port Soderick. Once round the windward mark it was a reach out past the rocks, then straight downwind to a leeward mark to the north of Douglas Bay, with a short beat back to the finish between Conister Rock and the Inner Fairway mark.

At the start all 4 yachts crossed the line within seconds of eachother. They were heading into a lumpy sea left over from the high winds of the previous day, together with the fact the beat was against the tide all the way to Port Soderick. Once past Douglas Head Eauvation and Quantum pulled away from the others, tacking across each other all the way down the coast, with Eauvation pulling out a small lead over Quantum by the time they rounded the mark at Port Soderick. Polished Manx rounded next, followed by Maggie May.

After a short white sail reach out of the bay, spinnakers were launched for the downwind leg, with the exception of Maggie May who goose-winged downwind instead.

Polished Manx had an unfortunate broach caused by the rolling sea conditions, however she soon recovered.

At the front Eauvation led only by a few minutes over Quantum at the Leeward mark and crossed the line 2 minutes ahead. Polished Manx finished shortly after, followed by Maggie May which had an impressive downwind leg under white sails only.

On Corrected time Eauvation took 1st place, with Maggie May securing an excellent 2nd place, Quantum 3rd and Polished Manx 4th.

DOCHERTY QUINN AUTUMN SERIES OVERALL RESULTS

1st Eauvation (4 pts), 2nd Quantum (7 pts), 3rd A Crewed Interest (13 pts), 4th= Maggie May & Nice One (15 pts), 6th Polished Manx (16 pts), 7th Heatwave (18 pts)
